Kabir, mystic poet and saint, lived in the 15th century, in North India. His live and work is a synthesis of all religions and his message is deeply rooted in Advaita Vedenta. He was brought up by Muslim weavers, but as well as being influenced by Persian and Sufi thought, he was also a disciple of Hindu sage Swami Ramananda. His simple language uses examples of day to day life to illustrate profound truths. The central themes of his message are Oneness and " Tera sahib hai ghata mahee, bahar naina kyun khole", meaning " Your god is within you, why are you looking outwards?"
Kabir is much respected and revered in India and throughout the world, and his wonderful poems contine=ue to touch hearts and minds
